"It's like you feel homesick for a place that doesn't exist."
Garden State (one of the best movies ever made)
"It's like you feel homesick for a place that doesn't exist." -- I've been quoting this part of the movie Garden State for the better part of a decade. I feel no energetic pull to my birthplace or the city I've lived most of my life in. Last spring it took losing a relationship, quitting my job (and a career), moving out of a house and packing all of my things into people's basements, and driving thousands of kilometers across the United States for me to realize that I feel rather homeless in life.
Ever since that fateful night I spent in the Wal-Mart parking lot of Page, Arizona, miles and miles away from what everyone calls "my home", I have been exploring what home really means to me (is it a place, a person or a feeling?) and, hopefully, where my home is.
I started the Wanderlost podcast not just to share my own journey to find and define "home" but because when I started asking others about home, I found their answers to be rich in beautiful values and they highlighted some of the biggest choices we all make in life and in the day-to-day. I never imagined that this journey would allow me to have such a voice, or to share the insight of others on a topic that, well, is really close to home.
You'll find the Wanderlost podcast on iTunes or SoundCloud. If you want to get in touch with me about this project, please don't hesitate to reach out with questions or suggestions!
